Obituary


Richard Anthony Trausch, 83, died Sunday, Jan. 4, 2015, at the Rehabilitation Center of Belmond.

Richard A. Trausch was born Aug. 14, 1931, in Eagle Grove, Iowa, to Alfred N. and Elizabeth M. (Fisher) Trausch. Richard was the youngest of 11 children, raised on the family farm, and attended school in the Clarion area country schools.
Richard served in the United States Army 1953-1955 and was stationed in Tacoma, Washington. Richard married Bernice J. (Linn) Jan. 24, 1953, and to this union came three children.
After serving in the Army, Richard started his lifelong farming career, farming in the Kanawha, Eagle Grove and Belmond areas until his retirement in 1994, when he moved to Belmond.
Richard loved to plant the seeds and watch the crops and livestock grow to maturity, and he also enjoyed gardening. His biggest passion was his grandchildren and his John Deere tractors. He also enjoyed going to True Value every morning for coffee with the “The True Value Coffee Club.”
Richard was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Francis, Donald, Robert, and Everett; sisters, Margaret Trausch, Ethel (Trausch) Lewis, Helen (Trausch) Steffenson, and Gladys Trausch; brother and sisters-in-law, Alice (Studer) Trausch, June (Gorden) Trausch, Kirk Lewis, Lloyd Steffenson, and Howard Studer.

Left to cherish Richard’s memory are his wife, Bernice; son, Dennis (Pam) Trausch, Belmond; daughters, Pam (Paul) Lathrop of Mason City; Colleen (Charlie) Cleppe of Elmore, Minnesota; sisters Elizabeth Trausch, Clarion and Viola (Trausch) Studer, Des Moines; grandchildren Pattie Lathrop Mason City, Bryan Lathrop Mason City, Jacob Collette Mason City, Kyle Collette, Elmore, Minnesota, and step-grandson Alex Cleppe, Marshall, Minnesota, and several nephews and nieces.
