Obituary


Richard Amonson, age 75, of Clarion, passed away Thursday, February 23, 2006 at Wright Medical Center in Clarion.

Funeral services for Richard Amonson will be held at 10:30 AM Monday February 27, 2006 at the United Methodist Church in Clarion with Pastor Don Morrison officiating. Burial will be at Evergreen Cemetery in Clarion.

Visitation will be 4:00 PM until 7:00 PM Sunday, February 26, 2006 at the Ewing Dugger Helgeson Funeral Home; 602 N. Main Street, Clarion, and one hour prior to the funeral at the church.

Richard Lee Amonson son Omer and Bernice (Johnson) Amonson was born August 26, 1930 in Eagle Grove. Dick was raised and educated in Eagle Grove, graduating from Eagle Grove High School in 1948. He also attended Junior College in Eagle Grove.

On April 10, 1953 Dick was united in marriage to Lila Mason in Eagle Grove. To this union two daughters were born.

Dick served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War from January of 1949 to January 1950 and was an Army Reservist until August 1953. He loved his country and was very patriotic.

He owned and operated Amonson Truck Line. Dick then worked for Cargill Inc. in Clarion for 18 ½ years doing a variety of jobs until he retired in 1992.

Dick loved to visit, especially the residents of the care centers. Saturday was spent at Rotary Ann in Eagle Grove, and Sunday the USA Health Care Center in Clarion. He enjoyed riding his bike and quiet often you would see him and Lila riding together.

Dick was a member of the United Methodist Church and the American Legion.

Dick is survived by his wife, Lila of Clarion, his two daughters, Cindy Riley and her husband Doug of Clarion, Joy Amonson and her companion, Will Johnson of Clarion; two grandchildren, Tom and Whitney Riley of Clarion; one brother Lyle Amonson and his wife Gwen of Eagle Grove, two sisters, Marlene Jorgensen of Eagle Grove, Jean Jorgenson and her husband Rod of Eagle Grove; many nieces and nephews, brother and sister-in-laws.

He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Bernadine Tuttle; and brother; Oren Amonson.
