Obituary


Richard D. Hamm, 70, of Clarion passed away Tuesday, February 20, 2018 at the Iowa Specialty Hospital in Clarion.

Funeral services for Richard Hamm will be held at 5:00 PM on Thursday, February 22, 2018 at Ewing Funeral Home, 1801 Central Avenue East in Clarion, with Pastor Zach Fischer officiating.

Visitation will be held one hour prior to services at the funeral home on Thursday.

Richard Dee Hamm was born on May 29, 1947 in Eldora, Iowa to Vincent Hamm and Veva Thompson. He was raised by his aunt and uncle in Eldora where he graduated from Eldora High School in 1965.

Ric was enlisted in the Navy following high school and served in the Vietnam war as a Shipfitter (Metal Smith) 3rd Class until he was honorably discharged in 1968.

He enjoyed spending time with his friends around 5 o’clock each day. He also spent his time fishing, gambling with his sister, golfing, and bowling. He was a butcher for many years of his life, and enjoyed grilling for friends as well as just himself.

He would travel to Orlando, Florida to vacation and visit his grandchildren whenever he could.

Richard is survived by his children Kelley Hamm of Denver, Colorado, and Aimee (Darrin) Simmons of Ormond Beach, Florida; grandchildren Jazmine, Jaden, and Jordin Simmons; sister Donna Foord; brother Kim Boike.

Richard is preceded in death by his mother Veva Thompson; father Vincent Hamm; sister Linda Williamson, brothers Doug Hamm and Gary Hamm, and his aunt and uncle Ralph (Zella) Corrall.
