Richard K. Reiland, 83 of Clarion, passed away on Sunday, December 4, 2022 at
Clarion Wellness and Rehabilitation Center in Clarion.

Richard Kay Reiland was born October 14, 1939 to Oswald "Ozzie" and Anna "Shi"
(Schroeder) Reiland in Clarion, Iowa. He was raised, alongside four younger
brothers, in the Clarion area, where he attended and graduated from Clarion High
School.
Following high school, Rich served in the United States Marine Corps, and
following his discharge, he attended junior college before transferring to and
graduating from the University of Northern Iowa.
Rich was united in marriage to Sonja J. Sime on December 26, 1964. The couple
made their home in Clarion for a time, before moving to Chicago, where daughter,
Julene, was born. In 1972, the family moved to Falls Church, Virginia, where
they remained until Rich's retirement from the United States Department of
Agriculture after more than 30 years in the personnel department.
Following his retirement, Rich and Sonja moved back to Clarion, building a home
on Lake Cornelia. Sonja passed away on November 26, 2013.
Rich greatly enjoyed his retirement years, he loved spending time at the Lake,
spending time with nature, watching birds and wildlife. He also enjoyed reading,
especially nature and history books. In his youth, he enjoyed bowling, and
always kept a flower and vegetable garden while living in Virginia.
Rich was a lifelong, devoted Catholic. He was a longtime member of St. John's
Catholic Church in Clarion, where he served on a number of board positions over
the years.
Rich is survived by his daughter, Julene (Randy) Slusher of Great Falls,
Virginia; sisters-in-law Shirley Reiland, Dee Reiland and Mary Reiland; along
with nieces and nephews, other relatives and friends.
Rich was preceded in death by his parents, Ozzie and Shi Reiland; wife Sonja
Reiland; brothers Tim Reiland, Duane Reiland, Dwight Reiland and Ron Reiland;
and sister-in-law Linda Reiland.
