Throughout his 91 years, Rich touched many lives with his quick-witted humor, wisdom, and love for his beloved family. Born on November 14, 1934, in Clarion, Iowa, to Nels and Violet Lindvall, he lived a flourishing and fulfilling life, honored by his family for his illustrious achievements and gregarious personality.
He was born and grew up on the Lindvall Farm, where he spent his younger years showing black angus cattle and hogs, participating in the county 4-H program, and playing varsity letter football. Honored and often celebrated in his Swedish heritage, he was able to collect a sizable display of memorabilia that commemorates his ventures and heritage, in which his father originated.
Called to duty in 1952, he graciously served his country in the Korean War as a Navy sailor working on the crew ships in San Diego, California. Returning home, he farmed with his family on the Lindvall Farm and went to work at Central Soya in Belmond, Iowa. Later employed in the summer of 1973 by Umthums Trucking Company, Rich was able to earn his two-million-mile award and was honored numerous times as Trucker of the Month. Always a constant in the bleachers, he was able to cheer on his grandchildren at all of their ballgames and momentous moments. Outside of the love he had for his daughters and grandchildren, Rich spent many hours fishing, golfing, and gardening.
He is survived by his four daughters, Dana Lindvall (Mark), Jayne Miller (Gary), Brenda Lindvall, Peggy Schluttenhofer (Jason), and grandchildren Emma and Calvin Schluttenhofer.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Nels and Violet Lindvall, sisters Edna Groom (Tom) and Joann White (Jim), and grandson Nick Shaw.
Richard will be greatly missed and forever remembered.
