Obituary


Richard Leslie (Rich) Woodin, 83, of Belmond passed away Monday, July 21, 2014 at Iowa Specialty Hospital in Belmond.

Funeral services for Richard Woodin will be held on Thursday, July 24, 2014 at 10:30 AM at First Lutheran Church, 420 1st Street North West in Clarion with Pastor Warren Curry officiating.  Burial will be at Evergreen Cemetery in Clarion.

Visitation for Richard Woodin will be held from 5:00 – 7:00 PM on Wednesday, July 23, 2014 at Ewing Funeral Home, 1801 Central Avenue East in Clarion, and will continue one hour prior to the funeral service on Thursday.

Richard was born May 1, 1931 in Clarion, son of Clifford and Elizabeth Archerd Woodin. He married Harriett Colby on May 8, 1949 in Albert Lea, Minnesota.

Richard graduated from Clarion High School. He worked on the family’s Century farm with his father. He also served on the board of the Clarion Elevator.

Richard is survived by three daughters, Carol (Byron) Boyce of Dysart, Paula (Gary) Werner of Buckingham, and Terri (Tim) Atkins of Buckingham, six grandchildren, Jodi (Joel) Noble, Cindy Boyce (Neil Lemke), Jacob (Karen) Werner, Amanda Werner, Ashley Werner (Ogi Surlan), Amber (John) Van Eaton, eight great grandchildren, his sister, Judy Peterson and his brother Jerry Woodin.

He was preceded in death by his wife, his parents, and a grandson, Christopher Tourtelotte.

Memorials may be directed to the family or Wright County Hospice.

Richard was an outdoorsman who loved hunting, fishing and trapping. He especially enjoyed his grandchildren, great grandchildren, and touring the back roads checking out the crops.
