Obituary
Robert Emerson Hoover, 85, passed away Saturday, March 30, 1996, at the Hancock County Memorial Hospital in Britt, Iowa.
Robert was born on February 14, 1911, in Alexander, Iowa, the son of Mervin and Bertha (Abels) Hoover. He moved with his family to the Algona-Sexton area where he attended country schools. He helped his parents farm. On December 24, 1930, he was united in marriage with Helen Perkins in Albert Lea, Minnesota. In 1934, the couple moved to a farm near Britt and later northwest of Britt. In 1981 they moved into Britt.
Robert enjoyed playing cribbage, wildlife, farming and spending time with his friends. He also enjoyed the challenge of creating various mechanical devices. Robert was a member of the United Methodist Church where he served on the Board when the church was built. He was a past chairman of the Farmers Coop Elevator Board.
Robert is survived by his wife, Helen; two daughters, Shirley Ryburn and her husband, Jim of Britt, Iowa, and Jackie MacVey and her husband, Paul of Ames, Iowa; nine grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, one sister, Mary and three brothers, Cliff, Ted and Lou.
