Obituary


Robert Hiscocks, Jr., 65, of Britt passed away Monday, July 17, 1995 at the Hancock County Memorial Hospital in Britt, Iowa. Robert was born April 22, 1930 in Britt, the son of Robert H. and Mavis (Rapp) Hiscocks.  Robert attended Britt Community Schools. On July 22, 1951 he was united in marriage with Dorothy Polsdofer at the Liberty Methodist Church near Klemme. The couple farmed near Britt and then later near Kanawha.  They then moved to Rockwell where they farmed for two years, before returning to the family farm where they have since resided.

Robert was very active in the community.  He was a member of the United Methodist Church, the Methodist Men's Softball Team, past president of the Methodist Men, head usher, Sunday School teacher, Hobo Day Methodist Church Food stand, 4-H Leader and was a supporter of the 4-H for over 30 years, the Hancock County Fair Board - past president, 1st president of the Britt Draft Horse Association and has been on the board for 14 years, volunteer at the Hancock County Speedway, was Santa Claus for various groups and organizations.  Robert also worked for a time at the ASCS Ofiice, was a meter reader for the Hancock County REC, and Marting Manufacturing.

Robert is survived by his wife, Dorothy of Britt; his children: Janice Monson and her husband, Phillip of Algona; Brian and his wife, Judy of Britt; Bradley and his wife, Laura of Britt; Doyce and his wife, Sue of Aledo, Illinois; and Randel and his wife, Melodie of Britt; eight grandchildren; five step-grandchildren; his mother, Mavis of Britt; eight brothers and sisters: Bonnie Doughan and her husband, Gene of Hayfield, Minnesota; William and his wife, Irene of Ventura; Don and his wife, Gloria of Britt; Dean and his wife, Marie of Dexter, Minnesota; Monte and his wife, Kay of Britt; Jon and his wife, Beverly of Britt; Judy Becker and her husband, Mike of Forest City; and Jane Nelsen and her husband, Dale of Britt; a sister-in-law: Loraine Pruitt and her husband, Ken of Ankeny; and a brother-in-law: Steve Casperson of Sioux Falls, South Dakota.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents, his father, one brother - Alan and a sister - Nancy Casperson.
