Robert Meleney, 76, of Bellevue, Nebraska, passed away Wednesday, September 27 2023 at Eastern Nebraska Veteran's Home in Bellevue, Nebraska. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 AM on Tuesday, October 3, 2023 at St. Patrick's Catholic Church, 139 3rd Street Southeast in Britt with Father Andrew Marr officiating. Burial will be at St. Patrick's Catholic Cemetery in Britt. Visitation will be one hour prior to services at the church on Tuesday, October 3, 2023. Robert Allen, son of Leo and Ann (Mary) Meleney, was born on January 21, 1947 in Mason City. He grew up in Garner, Iowa and graduated from Garner Hayfield High School in 1965. After high school, Robert joined the United States Army. He was honorably discharged in 1968. Robert was united in marriage to Sharon Nelson. They had two sons. Robert worked in sales most of his life, primarily as a real estate agent. He was an avid football fan. He enjoyed watching games, attending Mass and spending time with family is what he valued most. Robert is survived by RJ Meleney of Bellevue, Nebraska, Tyler (Jessica) Meleney of Council Bluffs, Iowa; grandchildren LJ and Leo Meleney of Council Bluffs, Iowa; his siblings Mary Lou (Ed) Peterson of The Villages, Florida, Barbara (Bob) Bradley of Iowa City, Iowa, and Lee Meleney of Mason City, Iowa. He is preceded in death by his parents Leo and Ann Meleney; his brother Leo William Meleney Jr, who died in infancy, sister-in-law Barbara Meleney, sisters Dora Ann "Micki" (Pat) Quigley and Rose (Henry) Hobbiebrunken.
