Robert "Bob" J. Schaffer, 90, of Clarion passed away Thursday, October 29, 2020 at Trinity Regional Medical Center in Fort Dodge. Memorial services for Robert Schaffer will be held on Monday, November 9, 2020 at 2:00 PM at the Clarion Lighthouse Church of the Nazarene, 1010 Second Street South West, in Clarion with Pastor Dana Wendel officiating. Those in attendance will be asked to follow social distancing guidelines and encouraged to wear a face covering.  Robert Junior, son of Henry and Myrtle (Fosnough) Schaffer, was born on November 9, 1929 in Lu Verne. He grew up in Kossuth County and attended school in Algona. After school, Bob joined the Army and was honorably discharged in 1948. Bob worked for a farmer, drove truck and also worked at a gas station. In 1950, Bob was united in marriage to Violet. The couple had six children. On December 29, 1992, Bob was united in marriage to Betty in Hampton. The couple made their home in Clarion. Bob enjoyed watching old westerns, football, and Nascar. He loved to go fishing. Bob is survived by his wife Betty; six children; two step-children; many grandchildren; sister Mildred; and many other family and friends. He is preceded in death by his parents and four siblings.
