Roger Earl Bird was born September 10, 1953 to Fay and Velma (Dolphin) Bird in Mason City.  Roger grew up in Britt, having lived in the same house his entire life.  He attended and graduated from Britt High School before attending Humboldt Institute in Minneapolis, where he studied traffic control.

Following high school, Roger worked at Winnebago Industries for a time before beginning his career as a truck driver working for his father.  He was dedicated to his work.  Over the years, he drove for Hy Line Chickens, Max Yield and for Five Star Coop, until he hung his keys up for the final time in 2012 due to ill health.

Roger enjoyed playing cribbage and riding motorcycles, and accumulated a substantial collection of flashlights.  He was an avid Minnesota Twins fan and enjoyed gardening.  He and Yvonne got great satisfaction from growing tomatoes to give away to family and friends.  He loved spending time with his grandchildren.

Roger will be remembered as a great father and grandfather, a role he willingly and proudly accepted.
