Roger was united in marriage to Peggy George on June 28, 1976. The couple made their home in Clarion.

Roger was a lifelong mechanic and entrepreneur. In his youth, he began working for his father at the Chrysler and Plymouth dealership. From there he graduated to operating a Texaco gas station, while simultaneously starting and running the only marina on Lake Cornelia for several years. But the family business called and he returned to run the family Chrysler / Plymouth dealership for some years, co-located with the Firestone dealership.

Roger was most known for operating Clarion Auto Repair. He also restored a number of vehicles owned by Larry Maasdam, including many items now on display at the Heartland Museum.

Roger also served in the Iowa Air National Guard, working as a mechanic in the 133rd Test Squadron in Fort Dodge, Iowa.

In his younger years, Roger enjoyed racing cars, either in and around town, or on the drag strip in Humboldt, where he had a lot of success. He was also an avid NASCAR and Dale Earnhardt, Sr. fan.

Roger lived a simple life based on routine and hard work.

Roger is survived by his wife Peggy of Clarion; son Travis (Sara) Robinson and children Delaney and Leah of Sheldon and son Darren (Reina) Robinson and children Trenton, Andrew, Jacob, Joshua, Derek and Brayden of Eagle Grove; siblings Bill (Fran) Robinson of Mason City, Richard (Jeanette) Robinson of Wyoming, Michigan and Janet (John) Arndorfer of Mankato, Minnesota; dog Benji; along with numerous nieces and nephews, other relatives and friends.
