Obituary
Rose Josephine Ward, 87, passed away Wednesday, April 9, 1997, at the Good Shepherd Health Center in Mason City, Iowa.
Rose, the daughter of James and Frances (Wellik) Drabek, was born June 12, 1909, near Duncan, Iowa. She attended country school and then helped her father farm. In November of 1935, she was united in marriage with Arthur Ward in Algona, Iowa. The couple made their home in Algona and then on a farm southeast of Britt before moving into Whittemore in 1944. In 1950 Arthur passed away. Rose then moved into Britt in 1951. She enjoyed crocheting and gardening. Rose was a member of the St. Patrick's Catholic Church.
She is survived by her daughter, Betty Bistline and her husband, John of Plymouth, IA; four sons, Charles of Britt; Gene and his wife, JoDee of Garner; Warren of Forest City; Doug and his wife, Lois of Cedar Rapids; twenty-two grandchildren; fifteen great-grandchildren; two sisters, Clara Malek and her husband, Ernie of Britt; Marie Hejlik of Rockwell; four brothers, Jim Drabek and his wife, Vera of Des Moines; George Drabek and his wife, Edith of Duncan; Tom Drabek and his wife, Elaine of Britt; and Bill Drabek of Columbus, WI.
Rose was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, two sons - Roger and Richard, two grandchildren, one sister and three brothers.
