Obituary


Rose Lorraine Thompson, 88, of Kanawah passed away Thursday, March 23, 2006, at Hancock County Memorial Hospital in Britt.

Rose, the daughter of Edward and Louise (Hanson) Kallem, was born May 16, 1917 in Rothsay, Minnesota.  At a young age she moved with her family to Nashua, Montana.  They then moved to Iowa where Rose received her education in the country schools.

Rose was united in marriage to Milford Thompson on February 11, 1940 in Fort Dodge, Iowa.  The couple lived and farmed in the Kanawha, Gowrie, and LuVerne areas.

Rose was a longtime member of the Kanawha Lutheran Church.  She loved her family and the many hours spent with her grandchildren.  She enjoyed cooking, sewing quilts, and working with her flowers.

Rose is survived by her husband Milford of Kanawha; five children: Virginia (Harlan) Hansen of Ruthland, Daryl (Ruby) Thompson of LuVerne, Dennis (Ruthanne) Thompson of Humboldt, David (Holly) Thompson of Kanawha, Douglas (Wendy) Thompson of Goldfield; 17 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; four sisters: Elsie Minor of Marshalltown, Dorothy Cripps, of Marshalltown, Jean Lee of Bellevue, Nebraska, Joyce Champlin of Torrance, California; two brothers: Kenneth Kallem of Marshalltown and Floyd Kallem of Alden, numerous nieces, nephews and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents Edward and Louise Kallem, four brothers: Ernest, Donald, James, and Robert and sister Vivien Jones.
