Obituary


Rosebelle ‘Rose’ C. Dirks, 93, of Belmond, passed away on Tuesday, May 5, 2020 at Iowa Specialty Hospital in Belmond.

Public graveside service will be held at 3:00 PM on Friday, May 8, 2020 at the Belmond Cemetery with Pastor Jason Lubben officiating. Those who attend will be asked to follow social distancing guidelines.

Rosebelle (Rose) Denekas Dirks, daughter of Jennie (Thiele) and Frank Denekas was born at Norcross, Minnesota on March 27, 1927. She received her education in Norcross. After the death of her father, she and her mother moved to George, Iowa.

On August 7, 1944, she was united in marriage to Donald Dirks at George, Iowa where she made her home while Don was in the service.

Rose asked Jesus to come into her life at a young age. She is a member of the Evangelical Free Church in Belmond. She is also a member of the Goodell Auxiliary and did a lot of voluntary work.

Don and Rose had four children and is survived by daughter LaDonne (Dave) Abele and son Tim (Sue) Dirks; four grandchildren Grant (Heather) Abele, Brent Abele, Heather (Kevin) Joens, and Spencer (Jessie) Dirks; six great- grandchildren Ty Abele, Brock Abele, Kayla Stoychoff, Austin Joens, Cullen Joens and Skyler Baxter; and brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband Don; her two children David and Twyla; her parents; her grandparents; her only brother Walter; and several aunts, uncles, and cousins.

Rose was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend. From an early age, she had great faith in our Lord. She showed that in many ways. She touched many loves with that love.
