Obituary


Roy Charbonneaux, 87, formerly of Britt, passed away Sunday, January 12, 2014, at Concord Care Center in Garner, where he had been a resident for the past 7 years.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, January 14, 2014, from 1:00 PM until 2:00 PM at Ewing Funeral Chapel, 178 Center Street West, in Britt. A graveside service will follow at 2:30 PM at Evergreen Cemetery in Britt. 

Roy, the youngest son of Floyd G. Sr. and Lucy M. (Boutilier) Charbonneaux, was born in Ottawa, Illinois on July 29, 1926.

Roy married Lillian Gladys Smit on August 12, 1944. He owned and operated several salvage yards, was in construction work and farmed for several years.

Roy was an avid fisherman, fur trapper, and hunter and enjoyed metal detecting. He and Lillian wintered in Alamo,Texas for over 35 years.

Roy is survived by his daughters, Lanette (Bill) Arnold of Klemme, Jane Beier (John Farquhar) of Klemme, Joyce (James) Blankenship of Katy, Texas and Peg Charbonneaux of Garner; 14 grandchildren and numerous great-children, nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Lillian; sisters, Fern Smith, Eva Schleuger, Evelyn Smidt; two brothers, infant Charles and Floyd E. (Pete) Jr. and his faithful canine companion, Pepper.
