Ruth Elaine (Laughlin) Stout

Ruth Elaine Laughlin Stout Born: July 18, 1928 in Osage, Iowa Died: July 24, 2015 in San Diego, California

She passed away peacefully at the age of 87 in her sleep. She will be laid to rest in a service on Friday, July 31, 2015 at 11am at the Evergreen Cemetery located on Highway 3 East, in Clarion, Iowa.

Ruth was born in Osage, Iowa where she graduated from high school in 1946. After High School she went to work for the local telephone company where she met her husband John Robert Stout. Ruth and John married on August 6, 1948 and had 6 children. In 1959 Ruth and John moved to Chillan and then Santiago, Chile where they lived with their children until 1964. In 1966 the Stout family again moved out of the United States to Lahore, Pakistan where they lived until 1970. When the family returned to the United States, they lived on a farm outside of Lamberton, Minnesota. On May 17, 1976 Ruth’s husband John passed away from cancer.

After her husband passed away, Ruth embarked on a career with Hardees where she worked as a manager in several towns in Minnesota, South Dakota and Iowa. Ruth retired from Hardees in 1990 and moved to San Diego where she lived until her death. She lived a full and adventurous life and is survived by her siblings Walter, James, Alvin, Lenore, and Alice; her children, Carol, Tom, Phil, Sue, Joe, and Barb; her nine grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
