Ruth Marie McCormick, 76, of Clarion, died Monday, May 2, 2005 at USA Health
Care Center in Clarion.
Funeral services for Ruth McCormick will be held Thursday, May 5, 2005 at 10:00
A.M. at the United Church of Christ Congregational in Clarion with Pastor Curt
Miner officiating. Burial will take place in Evergreen Cemetery in Clarion.
Friends may greet the family Wednesday, May 4, from 5:00 – 8:00 P.M. at the
Ewing Dugger Helgeson Funeral Home, 602 North Main in Clarion and one hour prior
to services at the church.
Ruth, the daughter of Elmer and Matie (Meineke) Soren, was born April 7, 1929,
in Clarion. She grew up on a farm in rural Clarion and attended country school.
Following graduation from Clarion High School in 1946, Ruth was employed by the
telephone company.
On September 23, 1951, Ruth was united in marriage with Dean McCormick at the
Little Brown Church in Nashua, Iowa. The couple made their home on the family
farm near Clarion, where they raised their three children. Ruth and Dean worked
the farm together for many years and continued to live on the farm until Ruth
became a resident of USA Health Care Center.
Ruth enjoyed spending time with her children and grandchildren. She always made
time to help the children with their 4-H projects. Her favorite colors were pink
and green and she had a good sense of humor.
Ruth was a member of the United Church of Christ Congregational in Clarion where
she enjoyed attending Women' Fellowship. She was also a member of the Ceres
Circle.
Ruth is survived by her husband of 53 years Dean of Clarion; three children:
Rick McCormick and his wife, Nancy of Council Bluffs, Christi Patterson and her
husband, Harold of Nevada, and Scott McCormick and his wife, Linda of Clarion;
five grandchildren: Pat, Matthew, Tony, Karen and Katie McCormick; one
half-sister, Carol; one half-brother, Leonard, and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents and one sister, Marj.
