Sadie B. DeWaard

Sadie Beninga DeWaard, passed away Tuesday, September 15, 1992 at the Kanawha Community Home.

Sadie, the daughter of Hermanus and Trientje (Langland) Beninga, was born September 20, 1897 in Lamont, Michigan.  At the age of three she moved to Wright county, Iowa and received her education in the rural schools of Wright and Grundy counties.  Later she attended Grundy College.

On October 2, 1928, she was united in marriage with Peter DeWaard.  They farmed in the Kanawha area until moving to Kanawha in 1956.  In 1978 she became a resident of Sunset Manor, in Jenison, Michigan and in 1988 moved to the Kanawha Community Home.  Sadie was a member of the Wright Christian Reformed Church.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Peter; seven sisters; one brother and one grandson, John Beving.

Survivors include two daughters, Adriana and her husband Duane Beving of Silver Spring, Maryland; Ruth and her husband Roger Diephuis of Grand Rapids, Michigan; three songs, Gerrit and his wife Mary Lou DeWaard of Kanawha, Iowa; Herman and his wife Ann DeWaard of Kalamazoo, Michigan; John and his wife Beverly DeWaard of Kanawha, Iowa; 17 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; one sister-in-law, Mrs. Joe DeWaard; and many nieces and nephews.
