Obituary


Sally Ann Pritchard, 89, formerly of Britt, passed away on May 23, 2023 at Little Hospice in Edina, Minnesota.

Memorial graveside services for Sally Ann Pritchard will be held at 10:30 AM on Saturday, June 10, 2023, at St. Patrick's Catholic Cemetery in Britt, with Father Andrew Marr officiating.

Born on July 11, 1933 in Mason City, Iowa, Sally was the first child of John and Dorothy Pritchard. Sal graduated from Britt High School and attended Iowa State University obtaining both BA and MA degrees in psychology and applied science.

Sal began her teaching career as an English Teacher and Dean of Women in Fairmont, MN. She also served as a school psychologist for Chickasaw County in Iowa before moving to California. Returning to Minnesota, Sally spent most of her career as a respected and beloved guidance counselor for the Roseville School District at Kellogg High School before retiring in 1993.

For more than twenty years, Sally served as chairperson of the guidance department, was active in the REA, RFT and North Suburban Counselor Associations as well as serving as President of the State of MN Personnel and Guidance Board. Sal loved working with fellow educational leaders on curriculum projects and worked with John Sullivan to write the curriculum and establish the Peer Helper Program.

Sal especially enjoyed being the liaison between the AFS and the Roseville schools. As the leader of the Rotary Club youth programs for Kellogg, she was nominated and awarded the distinguished Paul Harris Award by the Roseville Rotary Club.

Sal was active in many local organizations and volunteered for many different local groups and St. Odilia’s Catholic Church following retirement. Moving to Cherrywood Pointe in 2018, the community became a place fof Sal to flourish, making new friendships, serving as co-chair of the book club and serving on the advisory council.

Enjoying many different activities, family, and friends, Sal loved the arts, traveling, reading, and taking part in the lives of her family. Her faith was strong, giving her comfort and peace. Sally led a very blessed and full life, touching many lives with her wisdom, humor and generosity. Sal will be dearly missed by all.

Sally is survived by her brother, Bill (Viv), many nieces, nephews and great/great-great nieces/nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents, John and Dorothy, siblings Jane and Mary and Keith Sillman, nieces, Kathryn Pritchard, Maureen Marolt, nephews, Chris Sillman, Dan Wermerskirchen, great nephew Danny Pritchard, great-great nephew, Theodore Greibel, and her longtime friend and companion, Dave Wilke.

A Mass of Christian Burial was held on Monday, June 5, 2023 at 11:00 AM (visitation 10-11 AM) at St. ODILIA CATHOLIC CHURCH; 3495 Victoria N., Shoreview, MN. Live stream of service available at: https://youtube.com/live/9MjcUSV7ot8?feature=share
