Obituary

Sarah Emily Huling was born to Byron and Susie Huling on August 2, 1909 in Pontiac, Illinois.  She moved to Iowa as a young girl and attended school in rural Britt, then Britt High School.

On March 7, 1929, she was united in marriage to Virgil C. Everett at the Little Brown Church near Nashua.  The couple farmed in the Britt-Stilson area until 1971, when they moved to Britt.

Sarah was an active member of the Stilson Evangelical United Brethren Church and, later, the Britt United Methodist Church.  She enjoyed membership in the Esther Circle, Nota Bena Club, the Hancock County Historical Society, Farm Bureau, and the Royal Neighbors of America.  For 17 years, Sarah was coordinator of the Meals on Wheels program in the Britt Community.

Sarah passed from this life on March 22, 1999.  She is survived by her children: Alice and her husband, Bruce Schock of Arvada, Colorado, Verle of Britt, and Virginia and her husband, Andy of South Bend, Washington; her daughter-in-law Beverly Everett of Wesley; five grandsons and five granddaughters; and 12 "great-grans" ;many nieces and nephews, cousins and numerous friends.

Mrs. Everett was preceded in death by her parents, her brothers: Wayne, Fern, Claude and Earl and her sister, Ellen, her husband, Virgil in 1988, her son, Thomas in 1991 and daughter Marian, in 1998.

Sarah enjoyed her family and her home, church activities including Bible study and missions, poetry and reading, traveling in the camper and time spent with friends.  "Goin' fishin' up north" provided some of her happiest times.

She loved singing hymns all her life.  It was in her heart and life to put "The Lord's work" first.  She will be dearly missed by those whose lives she touched.
