Scott was born on July 6, 1958 to John and Sue (Ayers) Burrs in Belmond. He
graduated from Corwith Wesley High School in 1976 and earned his Diesel
Technology degree from Iowa Lakes Community College in 1978. He found his career
working on John Deere equipment and also ran and operated the family farm for 20
years.
Scott married Beth Hall in 1981 and to that marriage three children were born.
The family made their home on a farm outside Corwith. There he provided a steady
and safe home, as a gentle and hard-working father.
As the kids grew, Scott found himself back at old hobbies including antique
tractor pulling and riding motorcycles. You always knew it was Scott pulling up
on his bike, seeing as he rode as gently as he spoke, and that didn't
necessarily mean slow. It was during these years, he met the one he was meant to
find.
On September 21, 2013 Scott married Kathy Tonn. This union blended their
families, and together they shared five children and 16 grandchildren. Scott
enjoyed life surrounded by family, kids, projects, and pets.
Scott was forced to take early retirement due to the worsening of his medical
condition. He continued to be cared for by his devoted and loving wife, Kathy,
through it all.
He will be remembered especially for his dry sense of humor, quick wit, his
mindful words, gentle soul, empathetic nature, love of children and animal and
readiness to help anyone in need. And above all for his witty zingers and
twinkling blue eyes.
Left to cherish his memory are wife, Kathy Burrs; children, Tricia (Duane)
McGregor of Albert City, Cassie (Bruce) Collins of Kanawha, Dan (Melissa) Burrs
of Corwith, Angela (Chris) Robinson of Janesville, Jesse (Amanda) Tonn of Manly;

Collins, Julia, Jacob, & Joseph Burrs, Gayle & Tyler Robinson, Alec Servantez,
Westin & Ryker Tonn; mother, Sue Burrs of Britt; sisters, Nancy Rasmussen of
Kanawha, Ann (Bruce) Carroll of Corwith; sister-in-law Susan Burrs of Corwith,
along with many nieces and nephews.
