Sharon R. (Luft) Bauer, 82, of Belmond, passed away Sunday, February 14, 2021 at
the Rehabilitation Center of Belmond.
No services are planned at this time.
Sharon Rae, daughter of Howard F. and Mabel L. (Hendricks) Luft, was born on
January 1, 1939 in Plover, Iowa. Sharon grew up in Pocahontas and graduated from
Pocahontas Catholic High School. After high school, Sharon worked briefly in a
Des Moines office.
On July 16, 1957, Sharon was united in marriage to Dallas Bauer at Sacred Heart
Catholic Church in Pocahontas. They lived in various places throughout northern
Iowa while raising their six children. Sharon and Dallas later divorced. Sharon
was employed by Unisys in Clear Lake and then Walmart in Mason City until her
retirement in 2012.
Sharon loved embroidering dish towels and pillowcases, making fleece tie
blankets for her family, solving Sudoku puzzles, assembling jigsaw puzzles, and
was fond of watching Hallmark movies. Sharon had a green thumb and enjoyed
growing plants.
Sharon is survived by her children: Howard Bauer of Belmond; Retha (Dennis)
Gould of Newcastle, Nebraska; Bret (Kelley) Bauer of Sheffield; and Krista
(Greg) Rogahn of Clarence; her 12 grandchildren: Mandy, Molly, Spencer, Brady,
Austin, Seth, Taylor, Lydia, Kendra, Timothy, Anthony, and Joshua; 23
great-grandchildren; and three siblings: Lowell Luft, Judith Botine, and Rhonda
Bierl; and many other family and friends.
She is preceded in death by her parents, two daughters: Dawn Danette Swanson and
Jinger Jo Bauer, and two grandchildren: Gabriel Francis and Abigail Fern Gould.
