Obituary


Sheena Hayungs, 10, of Britt, passed away Sunday, March 9, 2014, at University Children’s Hospital in Minneapolis, Minnesota due to complications with a bone marrow transplant while treating Diamond-Blackfan Anemia.

Funeral services for Sheena Hayungs will be held at 10:30 AM on Friday, March 14, 2014, at the Evangelical Free Church, 810 2nd Street NW in Britt  with Pastors Stan Johnson and Mark Stevens officiating.  Burial will follow at Evergreen Cemetery in Britt.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, March 13, 2014, from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM at the Evangelical Free Church, 810 2nd Street NW in Britt and will continue one hour prior to services at the church on Friday.

Sheena, the daughter of Randy and Liz (Rosendahl) Hayungs and the late Andrea (Imel) Hayungs was born February 17, 2004 in Rochester, Minnesota.  She attended kindergarten at W-CL-T, then began attending West Hancock, where she was currently in 4th Grade.

Sheena loved baking and working on a variety of craft projects.  She was also very active outdoors, riding bikes, rock climbing and hiking with her family on vacations.  She also loved swimming and fishing, and playing with her dog, Hemi.

Sheena loved Jesus and was always writing on sidewalks with chalk and making cards and posters honoring Him.  She was a member of the Britt Evangelical Free Church where she was active in Awana’s.

Sheena is survived by her parents, Randy and Liz Hayungs of Britt; step-siblings Brandy (Santos) Salinas and their daughter Nyssa of Charles City, Lacey (Casey) Griffis and their children Claire and Dustin of Anchorage, Alaska, Kiley (Andy) Hefty of Arlington, Virginia, and Zeb (Sam) Rosendahl and their children Payton and Gracelynn of Charles City; grandparents Harold and Stella Hayungs of Britt, Susan and Jerry Lewerke of Garner and Kathy Smith of Algona; uncle Gary (Diana) Hayungs of Britt, aunt Sherri (Bruce) Logemann and their children April and Amber of Medora, North Dakota, aunt Paula (Scott) Davis and their children Zachary and Tyler of Lake Nabagamon, Wisconsin, uncle Eric (Suzy) Imel of Mesa, Arizona and aunt Shannon Imel and son Micah of Garner; along with numerous other relatives and friends.

Sheena was preceded in death by her mother Andrea in 2005.
