Stanton Lewis, son of Herman and Anna (Rust) Brunes, was born on February 24, 1923 on the family farm near Goodell, and attended country school. Stan lived on his farm for 82 years before moving into Belmond in June 2005.

On June 20, 1948, Stan was united in marriage to Helen Shelton at her parents’ house in Kanawha. The couple was blessed with three sons: Steven, Don, and Kevin.
