Stella Baker, 92, of Kanawha, passed away on Monday, March 9, 2009 at the Kanawha Community Home in Kanawha. Funeral services for Stella Baker will be held on Friday, March 13, 2009 at 11:00 AM at the Wright Christian Reformed Church south of Kanawha with Pastor Chuck Walton officiating. Burial will take place at Wright Christian Reformed Cemetery near the church. Visitation for Stella Baker will be held on Thursday, March 12, 2009 from 5:00 until 7:00 PM at Ewing Funeral Home, 118 East Second Street, in Kanawha and will continue one hour prior to the funeral service at the church. Stella was born on November 16, 1916 in Hancock County, Iowa, the daughter of Al and Abbie Reikens Christians. She was married to Edward Baker on November 23, 1939 and they farmed south of Kanawha, Iowa. She moved to Kanawha in 1986. Stella was an active member of the Wright Christian Reformed Church south of Kanawha. Stella is survived by two sons, Lewis Baker and his wife, Marcia of Jenison, Michigan, Albert Baker and his wife, Dawn of Centennial, Colorado; a daughter-in-law, JoAnn Baker of Champlin, Minnesota; six grandchildren: Debra, Tony, Sandra, Sue, Mark and Dana; sixteen great-grandchildren; a sister, Gladys Wessels; a sister-in-law, Evelyn Christians and a brother-in-law, Anco Baker. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Edward Baker; two sons, Alvin and Richard Baker; a grandson, Dean Baker; a brother, Henry Christians and several brothers and sisters-in-law.
