Steve Kadlecik, 83, passed away Saturday, October 8, 1994 at the North Iowa
Mercy Health Center in Mason City, Iowa.
Steve, the son of Stefan and Christina (Skandera) Kadlecik, was born in Chicago,
Illinois on August 10, 1911. At the age of seven years old Steve moved with his
family to Crystal Lake where he attended schools.
On January 8, 1944 he was united in marriage with Lilly Bartek in Britt, Iowa.
The couple made their home on a farm between Crystal Lake and Woden where Steve
worked as a hired hand. The couple later moved into Crystal Lake, during this
time Steve worked for a construction company in Forest City and later worked for
Crystal Milling. Steve later opened his own Golden Sun Mill in Woden, where he
worked until retiring in 1986. He is remembered as a dear loving husband,
father and a hard worker who when not working at the feed mill would help his
in-laws tile. He also loved to fish and sell nightcrawlers. He was a member of
the Calvary Lutheran Church in Crystal Lake.
Steve is survived by his wife, Lilly; five daughters: Elaine and her husband,
Wilfred Sui of Honolulu, Hawaii; Janice Christensen of Algona, Iowa; Sharon
Sikes of Phoenix, Arizona; Jean and her husband, Ken Lacey of Ocala, Florida;
Jenise and her husband, Steven Kohnke of Hattisburg, Mississippi; one son: Larry
and his wife, Miyoko Kadlecik of San Diego, California; one brother: Martin and
his wife, Bess Kadlecik of San Diego, California; fifteen grandchildren and
fifteen great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters and two brothers.
