Steven D. Hill, 81, of Clarion, passed away on Tuesday, August 15, 2023 at Iowa Specialty Hospital in Clarion. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 AM on Monday, August 21, 2023 at Clarion First Methodist Church, 201 3rd Avenue North East in Clarion. Burial will take place at Evergreen Cemetery in Clarion. Visitation will be held from 3:00 PM – 5:00 PM on Sunday, August 20, 2023 at Ewing Funeral Home, 1801 Central Avenue East in Clarion. Steven Dale, son of Dale and Avis (Boyington), was born on December 2, 1941 in Clarion. He grew up on a farm near Clarion attended country school and graduated from Clarion High School in 1960. He was proud member of the Clarion Wrestling Team and earned 3rd Place at the State Tournament.  After high school, Steve attended Iowa State, then joined the Army National Guard before returning back to Clarion to farm with his dad on the family century farm. In 1965, Steve was united in marriage to Shirley Davis at the Methodist Church in Belmond. They made their home on the family farm near Clarion. Steve continued to farm and raise livestock.  He truly enjoyed farm life and the ongoing work it entailed. Steve's family was very important to him. He loved spending time together and found time with the grandsons especially valuable. He loved fishing with his grandsons and going on family vacations with his grown children and grandsons. During the summer, Steve enjoyed going to local town festivals and parades and especially liked county fairs and the Iowa State Fair. Steve is survived by his wife Shirley Hill of Clarion; son Kevin Hill (Lisa) of Ames; daughter Kristin Ahrens (Rob) of Clarion; grandchildren Elliott Ahrens and Cael Ahrens; and Siblings Mark Hill of Clarion; and Doug Hill of Denver, CO. He is preceded in death by his parents Dale Hill and Avis Hill.
