Obituary
Susie O’Hern, 90, of Britt passed away Wednesday, October 16, 2013 at Hancock County Memorial Hospital in Britt.
A Mass of Christian Burial for Susie will be held on Friday, October 18, 2013, at 10:30 AM at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, 139 3rd Street South East, in Britt with Rev. Dennis Miller officiating. Burial will be at St. Patrick’s Catholic Cemetery in Britt.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, October 17, 2013 from 5:00 until 7:00 PM at Ewing Funeral Chapel, 178 Center Street West in Britt and continue one hour prior to services at the church.
Susie the daughter of Gerhardt and Deana (Gerdes) Harmdierks was born February 6, 1923 in Lane, South Dakota. She moved to Garner at a young age and was employed as a farm worker.
Susie was united in marriage with Maurice O’Hern on April 14, 1946 in Britt. The couple made their home in Britt where they raised their children.
She was a member of St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Britt.
Susie is survived by five daughters: Sue Richardson and her husband Dee of Britt, Vicki Frost of Garden City, Kansas, Debra Weringa and her husband Ron of Wesley, Becky Garman of Wesley, Maureen Elsamiller and her husband Daryl of Denver, Iowa; daughter-in-law Nicki O'Hern of San Antonio, Texas; fourteen grandchildren; twenty nine great-grandchildren, along with numerous niece, nephews, other family members and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Maurice; son William (Bill); grandchildren: Tim Frost, Renee Frost, Nancy Ann Frost; sons-in-law: Danny Garman, Richard Frost; two brothers: Art Harmdierks, Gerhardt (Bud) Harmdierks and sister Gertrude Revland.
