Obituary
Terry Lee Peterson, 64, of Clarion, passed away on May 25, 2025.
A Celebration of Terry's Life will be held at 4:00 PM on Sunday, June 1, 2025, at Ewing Funeral Home, 1801 Central Avenue East, in Clarion.
Visitation will be held from 2:00 - 4:00 PM on Sunday, June 1, 2025, at the funeral home.
Terry Lee Peterson was born July 8, 1960, to Morris and DiAnn (Klooster) Peterson in Clarion, Iowa. He was raised and educated in Clarion and graduated from Clarion High School with the Class of 1978.
Following high school, Terry began welding at Kiefer Built in Kanawha. He worked alongside his brother, Jerry, building trailers from the ground up. He later worked for Olson’s Plumbing and Heating, installing and servicing Culligan water systems. For the past several years, Terry worked in maintenance at Clarion Packaging.
Terry absolutely loved hunting and fishing, hobbies that began in early childhood. From early on, it was apparent that he was going to catch the biggest fish or shoot the biggest buck. Growing up in the Peterson home was clearly very competitive. Terry knew all of the area rivers and streams, and where all the best fishing holes were.
When Terry wasn’t hunting or fishing, he was either training a pair of coon dogs, his constant companions, or was out jumping the ditches on minibikes with his brother, Jerry. Over the years, his love of bikes grew, and he became a Harley rider.
Terry enjoyed spending time with his son, Jacob, and daughter-in-law, Kylie. He taught them to hunt and fish (including fly fishing), how to clean rabbits, and more than anything, shared his dry wit and sense of humor with all of his family and friends. Terry and the kids took a memorable trip to Oregon 3 years ago, where he was constantly taking photos and videos.
Terry is survived by his son, Jacob (Kylie) Peterson, and their dogs, Penelope and Duke, of Algona; his father, Morris Peterson, of Clarion; his brother, Jerry (Cindy) Peterson, of Milford; his nephew, Jeffrey (Lauren) Peterson, of Denver, Colorado; along with other extended family members and friends.
Terry was preceded in death by his mother, DiAnn Peterson; his sister, Sherry Peterson; his nephew, Vance Peterson; and brother-in-law, Willie Rasmussen.
