Obituary


Trena Vander Ploeg Cooper, 89, passed away Sunday, October 8, 1995 at the Kanawha Community Home in Kanahwa, Iowa.

Trena was born on May 8, 1906 to Albert and Jennie (Eekhoff) Vander Ploeg at Kanawha, Iowa.  She attended and graduated from the Kanawha School system.  She attended the Cedar Falls Teachers College and then taught rural schools near Kanawha for several years.

On August 26, 1930, she married John Cooper.  Together they farmed near Kanawha until 1936 when they moved to a farm northwest of Britt, Iowa.  She was active in the Woden Christian Reformed Church for many years as a Sunday School teacher, until the death of her husband in 1962.  She then moved to Britt, Iowa where she was employed as a housekeeper in the Britt hospital until she retired in 1971.

She is survived by two daughters, Marjorie (Mrs. Clarence Harringa) of Britt, Iowa; Eileen (Mrs. Gordon Brouwer) of Hudsonville, Michigan; seven grandchildren; twelve great-grandchildren; three sisters, Irene Vander Ploeg, Delia (Mrs. Tom Delger) and Ann (Mrs. Raymond Blank) all of Kanawha, Iowa.

Preceding her in death were her husband, John, her parents, two brothers and two sisters.
