Truman L. Kiefer
Truman L. Kiefer, 72, of Kanawha passed away Tuesday, September 30, 2014 at Kanawha Community Home in Kanawha.
Funeral services for Truman Kiefer will be held on Friday, October 3, 2014 at 2:00 PM at Evangelical Free Church of Britt, 810 2nd Avenue Northwest, in Britt with Pastor Stan Johnson officiating. Burial will be in Amsterdam Township Cemetery in Kanawha.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, October 2, 2014 from 5:00 – 7:00 PM at Ewing Funeral Chapel, 178 Center Street West, in Britt, and continue one hour prior to services at the church on Friday.
Truman Lee Kiefer was born July 27, 1942 to Donald and Gertrude (Steverwald) Kiefer near Mason City, Iowa. Truman received his education at Washington-Irving school district in Des Moines, Iowa. He married Juanita Johnson on June 21, 1960 in Garner, Iowa.
Truman worked many years as a welder for Hagie Manufacturing in Clarion and for the family business, Kiefer Built, in Kanawha.
Truman loved spending his time outdoors. His favorite hobbies included fishing, hunting, and riding his motorcycle. Some special motorcycle trips varied from going to Arkansas to Custer’s Last Stand in Eastern Montana. He will be remembered for his loving mentality, giving soul, and hardworking hands.
Truman was a member of the Evangelical Free Church of Britt.
Truman is survived by his wife Juanita Kiefer of 54 years; children, Jeannette Kiefer of Clarion, Iowa and Brian Kiefer, Sr. of Mason City, Iowa; grandchildren, Kyla Kiefer of Branson, Missouri and Brian Kiefer, Jr. of Branson, Missouri; great-grandchildren, Angel Hamilton, Star Hamilton, Destiny Hamilton, and Nevaeh Hamilton of Branson, Missouri; brothers, Ronnie (Donna) Kiefer of Des Moines, Iowa, Kenneth Kiefer of Clear Lake, Iowa, and Raymond Kiefer of Des Moines, Iowa; sister-in-law Judy Kiefer of Corwith, Iowa along with many nieces, nephews and friends.
Truman is preceded in death by his parents Donald and Gertrude Kiefer, sister Nancy Kiefer, brothers Arden Kiefer and Dean Kiefer and nephew Donald Kiefer.
