Veleta I. Shelton, 76, of Wesley, passed away peacefully with her husband by her side, Thursday, May 28, 2026, at Westview Care Center in Britt.

Veleta Irene (Hansen) Shelton, the daughter of Harvey and Velora Rose (McFarland) Hansen, was born on October 10, 1949, in Osage, Iowa. She grew up in the Little Cedar and Mitchell communities, attending school in Osage. She worked a variety of jobs throughout the years.

Life was a vibrant journey for Veleta. In 1966 she was united in marriage to Larry Mausehund to which Theresa and Terry were born. They later divorced. She met John (Bud) Reinken and Paula was born in 1977. They later parted ways, and she met Rick Gremmer. They made their home in Wesley, Iowa where they made many memories, running the Corner Bar and Grill in Wesley. After Rick’s passing in 2007 she met Chris Schulz of Corwith, and more memories were made until his passing in 2010. In 2011 Veleta met Robert (Bobber) Shelton and the two were united in marriage in 2022. Together they shared years filled with companionship, laughter, and love.

Veleta truly knew how to enjoy life. She loved camping and fishing with her family along with golfing and taking trips on the motorcycle. She was always ready for a road trip, often making memorable stops at little watering holes along the way. At home, she enjoyed tending to her flowers, watching birds, and spending time outdoors. Her deck was often the gathering place for family and friends, filled with laughter, good food, beverages, and great company.

Known as the life of the party, Veleta will always be remembered for her spunky attitude, infectious spirit, and the way she made everyone feel welcome. She lived life out loud, filled every room with joy, and created countless memories and stories that will be cherished by those who knew and loved her.

She is survived by her husband, Bobber; children Theresa (Steve) Earles of Wesley, Terry (Shelley) Mausehund of Neola, and Paula (Chad) Pals of Britt; grandchildren Amanda (Josh) Garman and their children Justin, Emma, Rylee and Alivia Garman, Kaylyn (Ben) Stalzer and children KinzLee and Tucker Stalzer, and Taylor (Vanessa Phipps) Earles and children Cooper, Hazel and McCoy Earles; sister Carrie (Albert) Leeman; brother Ed (Wendy) Hansen, father-in-law Clarke Shelton, mother-in-law Beverly Slocum, step-son Isaiah (Kristy) Shelton and children Caleb, Bennett, Isaiah, and Collin, along with many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, grandsons Eric Grady and Ryan Mausehund, Bud Reinken, Rick Gremmer, Chris Schulz, siblings Linda, Leon, Ira, Donna, Terry and LeRee.
