Vera M. (Edwards) Meyer
Verna Mae (Edwards) Meyer, 72, passed away on December 8, 1998 at St. Mary’s in Rochester, Minnesota, due to a brief illness.
Verna was born on October 30, 1926 at Wessington Springs, South Dakota, to Clarence & Sadie Belle (Erickson) Edwards. She graduated from the Lakota High School, Lakota, Iowa, with the class of 1944.
Verna was united in marriage to Frank Meyer on October 30, 1947, at Elmore, Minnesota. To this union five children were born: Cindy, Dave, Melinda, Dawn, and Sandy. After the marriage they lived in Elmore, Minnesota, Blue Earth, Minnesota, and later Wesley, Iowa. In 1958, they moved to a farm in the Corwith area. Verna worked at the Kanawha Nursing Home for many years, also as a cook a the Corwith School. In 1989, they moved and retired to Britt. Verna enjoyed volunteering at the West Hancock Elementary School, also her gardening and baking.
Verna is survived by her husband, Frank of Britt; her children: Cindy and her husband, Larry VanDusseldorp of Britt; Dave and his wife, Carlene Meyer of Britt; Melinda and her husband, Jon Wickert of Granada, MN; Dawn and her husband, Terry Gray of Ames, IA; Sandy and her husband, Bruce Smidt of Kanawha; her grandchildren: Tammy and her husband, Alan Abbas; Misty Harms and her special friend Doug Abbas; Scott and his wife, Angie VanDusseldorp; Debbie Meyer; Katricia Meyer; Dustin, Cory and Derek Wickert; Roger and his wife, Stacy Krein; Josh and his wife, Kristy Krein; Jacob, Andrew, Micah, and Megan Smidt; seven great-granchildren: Aaron and Zachary Abbas; Adam Trevor Harms; Natasha Hodson; Morgan Krein and Courtney Krein. She is also survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, sister and brother.
