Obituary


Verle Marjorie TerHark, 74, passed away Sunday, June 22, 1997, at the North Iowa Mercy Health Center in Mason City, Iowa.

Verle, the daughter of Ira and Ava Dell Martin Zeigler, was born on April 27, 1923, on the family farm northeast of Kanawha. She attended Kanawha country schools.  On January 25, 1947, she was united in marriage with Thomas TerHark at the Kanawha Methodist Parsonage.  The couple made their home first in Clarion and Goodell, before settling in Kanawha.  Verle worked at various jobs throughout the Kanawha, Belmond and Goodell area.  Her fondest memories are of working at the Kanawha Community Home and driving school bus for the Kanawha Schools, where she is fondly remembered as "MaMa Terk". She loved sports, baseball and fishing.  She also loved music.  She loved her family very much and her grandchildren were very special to her.  Verle was a member of the Kanawha Methodist Church, where she was baptized on April 29, 1957.

Verle is survived by two duaghers: Dianne Daniels of Cumming, Iowa; Joyce Johnson and her husband, David of Kanawha, Iowa; two sons: Dennis TerHark and his wife, Marilyn of Kanawha, Iowa; Jerry TerHark and his wife, Carol of Springfield, MO; eleven grandchildren: Brent, Brad, Barry, Todd, Mitch, Anthony, Robert, RoxAnne, Ashley, Angela and Nicole; three great-grandchildren: Alan, Michelle, and Andrea; one sister: Vera Babcock of Corwith, Iowa; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband - Thomas in 1995, four brothers and one sister.
