Obituary


Vestus Mae (Whitehurst) Leerar, 84, passed away Tuesday, July 4, 1995 at the Kanawha Community Home in Kanawha.

Vestus, the daughter of Noah and Zora (Wyant) Whitehurst was born December 9, 1910 at Pontiac, Illinois.  At the age of 5, she moved with her family to Britt.  On January 6, 1929 she was united in marriage with Jake Leerar.  The couple made their home in the Britt and Corwith area, where they farmed.  Vestus enjoyed spending time with her family. She was a member of the EUB Church in Stilson until it dissolved when she became a member of the United Methodist Church and the Ladies Aide in Kanawha.  The couple attended the First Baptist Church in Corwith.

Vestus is survived by her husband, Jake; one son: Leonard Leerar and his wife, Donna of Britt; three daughter: Dorothy Studer and her husband Gary of Corwith; Audry Meyers and her husband, William "Bill" of Corwith; Deloris Fleming and her husband, Wayne of Parker, Colorado; eleven grandchildren; twenty-five great-grandchildren; five step-great grandchildren and nine step-great-great grandchildren; four sisters: Ellen Kuch of Britt; Evelyn Stokesbary and her husband, Arvid of Clear Lake; Gladys Schmid and her husband, Robert of Forest City; one brother: Orvin Whitehurst and his wife, Jan of Clear Lake; two sisters-in-law: Mrs. Charlotte Harland of Clear Lake, and Mrs. Marie Whitehurst of Garner.

She was preceded in death by her parents, a sister - Mrs. Blance Shutjer, and four brothers - Glen, John, Mervin and Ivan.
