Obituary

Vicki Noble, 60, passed away Sunday, February 25th at home.

A graveside service and celebration of life for Vicki and Mike Noble will be held May 5th at 10:00 a.m. at St. Patricks Catholic Cemetery in Britt, Iowa.

Vicki was born in Britt Iowa on September 12, 1957 to parents Burrell and Sheryl Buren. She graduated from Britt High school and married Mike Noble. After a wonderful honeymoon in Colorado, they settled down in Britt, first living on the Andregg farm, and then moving to the family farm in Britt where Mike grew up. They had three children, Lucas, Jessica and Valerie.

Vicki loved history, gardening, animals, birds and most of all, her children, grandchildren and family. She was extremely generous and had a heart of gold. She loved having her grandkids over to the house and had just had Chloie over to make Christmas cookies. She talked about what a great helper she was. After losing her husband Mike in 2014, she struggled to be the mother she had always been, yet just recently was beginning to show signs of healing. She and Mike provided a wonderful, idyllic childhood for all 3 of their children. They took family vacations every year to nearly every state in America and made sure their kids had everything they needed for a happy childhood. Every holiday growing up with mom and dad was filled with magic and excitement, especially Christmas. After the kids left home, Mike and Vicki took many fun filled vacations. Mom’s favorite was to Crater Lake in Oregon. Raising three children on the farm, they instilled a great sense of work ethic into their kids, and ensured that being kind to everyone and helping anyone in any situation took precedent. Mom, you raised us all to be people who I know you were proud of and we see you in ourselves every day. You helped us see the good in people and prepared us for life. Because of YOU we will carry on. Losing both parents in the span of 3 years won’t be easy, but we know that with our memories in our hearts, we will be able to move forward. You are at peace now, and you don’t have to feel lonely, or sad or scared anymore.

Vicki is survived by her children Lucas and Heather Noble, Valerie and Dan Umthun and Jessica and Matt Ferring, her grandchildren Chloie and Claire Noble as well as her mother Sheryl Buren, mother in law Maxine Noble, and her sisters Monica Abbas and Melanie Buren. In addition she is also survived by many wonderful sisters in law and brothers in law.

She was preceded in death by her father Burrell Buren, husband Mike Noble, sister in law Connie Harbaugh and sister in law Cindy Noble.

Rest in Peace mom. We will miss you every day and I will miss our Sunday talks and lunches. We will miss your beautiful smile, your reassuring hugs, and just having a friend to talk to when life seemed too dark to keep going. We will miss your cooking, shopping at Bill’s Red Owl, and will always carry the memories of what a perfect mom you were to all of us. You tried so hard to be a great mom, and you succeeded. We will miss you every day for the rest of our lives. You would tell us to not be sad and to not wait until we get old to do the things we love. Do them now you would say.

"Twenty years from now you will be more disappointed by the things that you didn't do than by the ones you did do. So throw off the bowlines. Sail away from the safe harbor. Catch the trade winds in your sails. Explore. Dream. Discover."
