Wavel Lois (Brand) Lichman, the daughter of Frank and Edna (Cogill) Brand, was born on the family farm outside of Kanawha. She attended school in Corwith before moving to Britt. While working at a local café, she met her future husband, John "Sonny" Lichman.
The couple was united in marriage on December 1, 1951, at St. Patrick's Catholic Church. To this union, four daughters were born: Gloria, Debra, Sheri and Pam. They raised their family in Britt where they later enjoyed having their family over for weekly Sunday suppers.
Wavel worked at the milk plant before beginning her career at Winnebago Industries. She worked there for 27 years before retiring. She also enjoyed helping at Heartland Diner, where her homemade pies became well known.
Wavel enjoyed shopping and keeping up with the latest fashions. She always liked to look nice and put together, and her stylish purple hair became part of her signature look. She also took pride in her home and enjoyed spending time in her flower garden. Later in life, Wavel loved to travel, especially with her daughters. They made memories together in places such as Hawaii, Alaska and Florida, and she enjoyed spending some winters in Arizona.
Most of all, Wavel loved her family. She especially enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Having them nearby and being part of their lives brought her great joy. She will be remembered for her outgoing personality, her kindness to others and the love she had for her family.
She is survived by her daughters Deb Larson of Crystal Lake, Sheri Moore of Crystal Lake, and Pam (Dan) Kline of Britt; grandchildren Kari (Mike) Wolfe, Nikki Lemmon, Tracy (Lance) Ludwig, Shannon (Mark Theesfeld) Wadsley, Stacy (Aksel) Nielson, Nicholas Moore, Jesse Moore, Chris Moore, Josh Kline and Adam Kline; bonus grandson Andrew Sell; 13 great-grandchildren; sisters Marvel Thompson, Sharon Jenkins and Karen Hueneman; sister-in-law Kathy Barlas along with many nieces, nephews and extended family.
