Obituary


Wayne Allen Zeigler, 57, passed away Tuesday, November 14, 1995 at On With Life in Ankeny, Iowa. Wayne was born May 23, 1938 in Goodell, Iowa, the son of Elmer and Arlene (Severson) Zeigler.  He grew up in the Wright and Hancock County area.  Wayne baptized and confirmed in the Kanawha Methodist Church.  He attended school in and around the Kanawha area, graduating from Kanawha High School in 1956.  After high school, Wayne farmed for a time before entering the United States Army.

On February 17, 1963, he was united in marriage with Mary Huntley at the St. John's Lutheran Church near Kanawha.  The couple farmed east of Kanawha.  In the fall of 1978 they moved into Kanawha where Wayne worked at the Kanawha Coop.  He also worked at Urness Hardware - Clarion, was a service manager at Woods Chevrolet in Garner, and was an appliance repairman for Garner Appliance and True Value Hardware also in Garner.  Wayne liked to go camping and fishing.  He also loved playing with his kids and grandkids.  Wayne was a member of the St. John Lutheran Church and the Kanawha Lutheran Church.

He is survived by his wife, Mary; four daughters: Sheryl Waner of Ankeny, Iowa; Debra Cooper and her husband, Rick of Lewiston, Idaho; Lisa Book and her husband, Mark of Belmond, Iowa; Kathleen Brannan and her husband, Rod of Ankeny, Iowa; one son: Richard and his wife, Cheree of Minot, North Dakota; eight grandchildren: Ashley, Nathan, Derek, Whitney, LaRae, Kyle, Devan and Colin; his mother: Arlene Zeigler of Kanawha, Iowa; three sisters: Hazel Wood and her husband, Gene of Garner, Iowa; Mardell Meyer and her husband, Gary of Belmond, Iowa; Joan Boeck and her husband, Charles of Denison, Iowa; four brothers: Lyle and his wife, Dawn of Kanawha, Iowa; Jim and his wife, Joyce of Estherville, Iowa;  Merlin and his wife, Marilyn of Kanawha, Iowa; and David and his wife, Margaret of Clarion, Iowa.

Preceding him in death were his father, Elmer.
