Obituary
Wayne L. Abbas, 72, of Kanawha, passed away Friday, April 4, 2025, at his home.
Memorial visitation will be held from 2:00 - 4:00 PM on Saturday, April 26, 2025, at Ewing Funeral Home, 118 East Second Street in Kanawha.
Wayne LeRoy Abbas, the only son of Leo and Faye (Corlew) Abbas, was born on March 7, 1953 in Belmond, Iowa. He grew up in Kanawha and graduated from Kanawha High School in 1971.
Wayne was united in marriage to Laura Dieger in 1984 at the Belmond Methodist Church. To this union, one daughter, Kayla, was born. The couple later divorced.
Wayne's life was shaped by his deep passion for farming, which was much more than just a job—it was a calling, a hobby, and a way of life. He lived and breathed the farm, always finding joy in the work it took to keep things running smoothly.
When he wasn’t in the field, Wayne could be found fishing, caring for his dogs, the many barn cats and various farm animals he’d had over the years, or enjoying a cold Dr. Pepper. He also had a love for cars, having won several drag races with his Mustang at the Humboldt Race Track and attending the Good Guys Car Show with his family.
Wayne will be remembered for the simple things in life, his tenacity, and sense of humor.
He is survived by his daughter Kayla Abbas, grandchildren, Barrett and Emery of Britt; his mother Faye Abbas of Kanawha; sisters Pam (LeRoy) Miller and Lory (Larry) Shippy; nephews Rod (Shelby) Helps and Chad Winterfeld; great-nephew Nicholas Helps and extended family.
He was preceded in death by his Dad, sister Deb Abbas and nephew Ben Winterfeld.
