Obituary
William Clair Dummett, 66, passed away Wednesday, May 20, 1998, at the Hancock County Memorial Hospital in Britt, Iowa.
William, the son of Lester and Ann (Merchant) Dummett, was born July 23, 1931, in Sanborn, Iowa. At an early age, he moved with his parents to Sibley, Iowa, where he attended school. In 1950, he became co-owner of the Danish Pastry Shop in Osage, Iowa and became sole owner in 1952. On February 12, 192, he was united in marriage with Angela Klein at Ashton, Iowa. The couple moved to Britt in 1954, where William started the Dummett Bakery, which he ran until 1988, when he retired because of health reasons.
William was a member of the Britt Fire Department for 16 years. In his free time, he enjoyed woodworking.
William is survived by his wife, Angela; three sons: Terry of Algona, Iowa; Steven of Forest City, Iowa; James and his wife, Paula of Mason City, Iowa; five grandchildren: Mark, Scott, Brad, Todd and Michelle; one step-brother Paul Posser of Chapin, South Carolina.
He was preceded in death by his parents, one son, Thomas in infancy, one half brother and one step brother.
