William H. Waechter, 86, of Fort Dodge, formerly of Clarion and Boone, passed
away Monday, September 14, 2009 at Friendship Haven-TMHC in Fort Dodge.
William Harold Waechter, the son of August John and Esther Mae (Crook) Waechter,
was born on November 19, 1922 in Quincy, Massachusetts. As a child his family
moved to the Boone area, where he attended school and graduated from Boone High
School.
After graduation, William attended Iowa State University receiving his four-year
degree in three years so he could enlist in the Navy in 1943. He served during
WWII and was honorably discharged in 1946.
On June 22, 1947 William was united in marriage to Rovena Wisecup at First
Presbyterian Church in Boone. The couple made their home in Boone where worked
as parts man and later salesman for the Buick dealership. In 1952, William
worked for five years at a hardware store his father had bought for him until
returning back to the dealership where we worked as a salesman until his
retirement in 1975.
Upon retirement, William and Rovena moved to Arizona where they lived until 2005
which is when they moved to Clarion for two years. In 2007 they moved to
Friendship Haven in Fort Dodge.
William was a member of First Presbyterian Church in Boone and the Masonic
Lodge. He enjoyed cars and golfing.
William is survived by his wife of 62 years Rovena; daughter Julianne (Warren)
Clausen of Clarion; son William J. (Cathy) Waechter of Lake Mathews, California;
three grandchildren; Kimberly Clausen, Tyler Waechter, and Jordan Waechter;
along with numerous in-laws, and other family members and friends.
He is preceded in death by his parents; and an infant daughter Janice Mae.
