Obituary


Juanita Faust, 66, of Britt, passed away on Sunday, March 22, 2009 at the Hancock County Memorial Hospital in Britt following a nine year battle with cancer.

Funeral services for Juanita Faust will be held at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Britt on Saturday, March 28, 2009 at 10:30 a.m. with Father Henry Huber officiating. Interment will be in Evergreen Cemetery in Britt

Visitation will be held from 5:00 until 7:00 p.m. Friday, March 27, 2009 at Ewing Funeral Chapel, 178 Center Street West in Britt.

Juanita, the daughter of Joe and Vernie Wirth, was born on June 17, 1942, in Story City, Iowa. When she was two, her family moved to a farm outside of Thompson. After graduating from high school, Juanita attended beauty school and worked as a beautician in Colorado. She married Don Faust on September 16, 1967, in Britt where they resided and farmed southwest of town. Juanita worked at home raising their four children. She also tended to lavish gardens each year and was known for her canning and baking. In 1987, Juanita began working as a home health aide for Hancock County where she worked up until her retirement in 2006.

Survivors include her daughter, Donita Faust and husband, Rob Hollingworth, and their son, Ian of Des Moines; daughter, Shawn Miller and husband, Luke, and their children, Raina and Tommy, of Buffalo Center; son Troy Faust and wife, Jennifer, and their children, Mahayla and Gunnar, of Britt; son, Justin Faust and Alexa Aleman, and their daughter, Emma, of Britt; brother, Gerald Wirth and wife, Phyllis, of Colo; brother, Leroy Wirth, of Chariton; brother, Cecil Wirth and wife, Joanne, of Forest City; sister, Mary Jo Guilick of Dubuque; brother, Keith Wirth and wife, Barb, of Thompson; sister, Faye Krueger and husband, Don, of Blairstown; brother, Dennis Wirth and wife, Linda, of Bentonville, Arkansas; sister, Judy Peterson and husband, Travis, of Jewell; and many nieces and nephews.

Juanita was preceded in death by her parents, Joe and Vernie Wirth; husband, Don Faust; parents-in-law, Bill and Cleo Faust, brother, John Wirth; brother-in-law, Bill Guilick; and sister-in-law, Ellen Wirth.

Juanita was the fifth of ten children. She will always be remembered for the knack for cooking, her skill at gardening, her peacock decorations, her passion for collecting Beanie Babies, and her love of being a grandma. The grace and style Juanita exhibited throughout her battle with cancer showed her strength, strong will, and character. Her memory will live on in our hearts forever.
