Obituary
Adelaid H. Fox, age 97, of Britt passed away Saturday, May 24, 2008 at Westview Care Center in Britt.
Funeral services for Adelaid Fox will be held on Wednesday, May 28, 2008 at 10:30 AM at the United Methodist Church in Britt with Pastor Robert Dodge officiating. Burial will take place at Evergreen Cemetery in Britt.
Visitation for Adelaid Fox will be held on Tuesday, May 27, 2008 from 5:00 until 7:00 PM at the Ewing Funeral Chapel, 178 Center Street West, in Britt and continue one hour prior to services at the church on Wednesday.
Adelaid Henrietta Fox, the daughter of Austin and Johannah (Kambo) Hefte, was born near Kanawha May 9, 1911. She had 6 brothers and 4 sisters. On October 12, 1934 she married Jerry O. Fox at the former Prairie Center United Methodist Church northwest of Britt. She and Jerry started their married life together on the Fox family farm. Adelaid was a wife, mother and homemaker on that farm for over seventy-three years.
Adelaid’s interests included sewing, quilting and cooking.
She was a member of the Britt United Methodist Church, UMW, and served on various church boards over the years.
She was active in the former Hancock County Farm Bureau Women’s Committee and has served as a girl’s 4-H Leader and current member of the Woden Senior Citizens.
Before moving to Westview Care Center she tried to quilt each day for at least one hour.
Adelaid is survived by her six children: Larry (Rita) Britt, Wayne (Judith) of Britt, Freeman (Sharon) of Sioux Falls, South Dakota, Jacqualine (Dennis) Gordon of Iowa City, Johannas (Kathy) of Aurora, Colorado and Sonja (James) Chesnik of Ankeny. She is also survived by one sister, Austinette Nerhus, Windom, Minnesota and sisters- in-law Marjorie Hefte and Miriam Hefte.
Also surviving are grandchildren: Mark (Kathy) Fox, Miriam Fox, Tim Fox, Jill (Paul) Lock, Amy (Mike) Berarducci, David (Stacey) Fox, Greg (Tammi) Fox, Jeff (Stephanie) Fox, Christine (Loren) Danielson, Patrick (Kim) Gordon, Jason (Alicia) Gordon, Sarah Fox, Candace Fox, Michael (Michiko) Chesnik and Kelly Chesnik.
Great grandchildren surviving are: Amanda Fox, Carter Fox, Isaac Fox, Davis Fox, Anna Elizabeth Fox, Hannah Fox, Emma Fox, Benjamin Fox, Amy Lock, Kayla Lock, Anthony Berarducci, Mia Berarducci, Caleb Fox, Riley Fox, Johnathon Fox, Andrew Fox, Zachary Danielson, Micah Danielson, Catharine Gordon and Connor Gordon.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Jerry, March 18, 1995; brothers: Johannas, Arnold, Rudolph, Kenneth, Vern and Calvin. Also preceding her were sisters: Grace, Hazel and Irene.
