I grew up in Eagle Grove and later coached wrestling in Eagle Grove and Decorah. Al DeLeon was a great coach, mentor to many and a good and fine man. God Bless!

Mr. DeLeon was my Spanish teacher in the 60’s. In fact, I was in his class the day we heard that President Kennedy had been shot. I remember how he liked making tacos for many of his students. He is remembered fondly. I’m so sorry for your loss.

My deepest sympathy to the family. I'm thankful I had Mr. DeLeon for 3 years of Spanish. He was a great teacher.

What a man of integrity Al was! My first connection with him was when I was wrestling against Britt in high school. As a great coach, he not only encouraged his team but our team too! The next time I met him and got to know him better was when Al was coaching at Waldorf. We had some great discussions of his past victories, but with each conversation Al's humility would always come through . My sympathies to his family and friends. These kind of men you don't see in the world very often. I am thankful that he was a brief part of mine.
