Obituary

Arden L. Kiefer, 54, passed away Tuesday, January 7, 1992, at St. Joseph Mercy Hospital in Mason City, Iowa.

Arden, was born January 4, 1938 in Cerro Gordo County, Iowa to Donald and Gertrude Kiefer, who were farm workers at the time.  At the age of nine, Arden trusted Christ as his personal savior at the Wheeler Wood Baptist Church.  Arden moved to a farm in Wright County as a hired hand at the age of 15.  Two years later he met Sheryl K. Johnson of Belmond.  Arden and Sheryl were married on June 1, 1958.  The couple relocated to Des Moines, Iowa to pursue factory work.  There they had three children together, Laura, Kelly and Joyce.  Arden then took his family back to Wright County and started his first small business, "Kiefer Welding and Supply" .  His slogan "Have Welder Will Travel".  Then in 1970, Arden was offered the position of plant superintendent of Dodgen Industries in Humboldt, Iowa.  In 1973 Arden set out on his own again in Kanawha and started Kiefer Built, Inc.  It has grown from a small five man shop to one of this areas largest factories and major employer.  Arden's personal motto was, "Life is too short to be anything but fair, honest, and charitable," and how true to Arden's life this holds.  Arden's story is one of rags to riches.  The riches was Arden's gift to everyone and anyone who knew him.  He gave of himself to anyone who needed a hand, and he shared all his wealth of love, kindness, and generosity with all the world.

Arden is survived by his wife, Sheryl; their three children and their spouses: Laura and husband, Lonny Stoffer of Kanawha, Kelly and wife Jolene of Kanawha, Joyce and husband, Mike Krugler of Belmond; six grandchildren: Robert, Jessica, Amanda, Erica, Eric and Christian and one grand nephew Brian who is presently residing in the Kiefer home, his father, Donald of Conrad, his mother Gertrude of Kanawha; five brothers: Ronald, Clear Lake, Duane, Corwith, Truman, Kanawha, Kenneth, Thornton, Raymond, Clear Lake, and one sister, Nancy Mills of Kanawha.

Arden will be missed by all who knew and loved him.
