Obituary
Billy J. Cook, 49, passed away Friday, May 21, 2010 at his home in Burien, Washington.
Bill’s memorial service will be held June 19, 2010 at 10:30 AM at Ewing Funeral Chapel, 178 Center Street West in Britt, Iowa followed by a time of fellowship at the Britt Hospitality Room. Inurnment will be at a later date.
Bill was born November 20, 1960 in Britt, Iowa to Kenneth and Patricia (Wilson) Cook. Bill graduated from Britt High School in 1979 where he was a standout athlete in football and wrestling. Bill served his country in the Army from 1982 – 1987, earning two Army Achievement Medals. Bill was diagnosed with M.S. in 1987 and moved to the Seattle area in 1994 for health reasons.
Bill enjoyed being outdoors. He loved attending Seattle Mariners games with brother Don and watching his horses run at Emerald Downs with his dad. He was an avid NASCAR fan having attended races in Daytona Phoenix and Las Vegas. Bill had a heart of gold and was loved by all that knew him.
Bill rarely, if ever let the crippling effects of Chronic Progressive M.S., get him down or make him bitter, and was somehow able to maintain the same infectious, happy go lucky personality throughout his life that would earn the admiration and respect that would lighten the lives of those who were fortunate enough to come in contact with him.
Billy’s life was a blessing to all and he will be missed very much.
He is survived by his father, Kenneth Cook, of Burien, Washington; brothers, Duane, of Britt and his children Justin and Chelsea; brother, Robert and his wife Karman (Smidt) and their children Rachel, Samuel and Michelle, of Fort Dodge; brother, Don of Burien, Washington.
His mother Patricia and good friend, Rodney Conaway, preceded Bill in death.
