Calvin Eugene Sprenson, 72, passed away Thursday, September 18, 1991 at the Hancock County Memorial Hospital in Britt, Iowa.
Calvin, the son of Edmund P. and Emilie J. Mortenson Sorenson was born October 9, 1918 on his parents farm near Britt. He attended the Crystal Lake schools and graduated in 1937.
On February 14, 1942 he was united in marriage with Genevieve M. Azerski, of Forest City, at Algona. The couple farmed until Calvin entered the Army Air Force in 1942. He received his discharge in 1946 and continued farming. He was an active member of the Woden-Crystal Lake school board; Hancock County Fair Board; Crystal Township Trustee; Farmer's Co-Op Elevator of Woden and Hutchins; Federal Land Bank and Trust of Forest City and Crystal Lake. He served as a Hancock County Supervisor for 12 years from 1978 to 1990. In 1975 the couple moved to Crystal Lake where they have since resided.
Calvin was an active member of the United Methodist Church in Crystal Lake serving on various committees.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one grandson, Jeff.
Survivors include his wife, Genevieve Sorenson of Crystal Lake; one daughter, Mary Sorenson of Crystal Lake and her fiancé, Doug Reisetter; two sons, James Sorenson and his wife, Dianne and Keith Sorenson and his wife, Barb both of Britt; six grandchildren; his stepmother, Mildred Sorenson of Crystal Lake; 10 brothers and sisters: Ruth Schubert and her husband, Herb of Garner; Harlan Sorenson and his wife, Jerry and Kenneth Sorenson and his wife, Leona both of Crystal Lake; Russell Sorenson and his wife, Marjorie of Britt; Morris Sorenson and his wife, Wilma of Wintrop, ME; Lois Otis of Forest City; Doryce Hanna and her husband, Bruce of Woden; Dorothy Brown and her husband, Gary of Corwith; Paulette Dahl and her husband, Ron of Woden and Beth Barnum and her husband, Ed of Blaine, Minnesota.
