Obituary


Carrie Blanche Carney Johnson, 86, passed away, Tuesday, May 10, 1994, at the Hospice Family Care Center in Mesa, Arizona.

Carrie, the daughter of Henry W. and Anna (Miller) Schneider, was born February 19, 1908, in Fenton, Iowa. She attended school in Fenton and was a high school graduated.

Carrie was united in marriage with Hugh Carney at Jackson, Minnesota, in 1930.  The couple made their home on a farm in Mallard, Iowa.  They then moved to a farm in Whittemore, Iowa, and the couple later bought the family farm at Fenton, Iowa.  In 1955, the couple moved to Mesa, Arizona.  Mr. Carney passed away in 1955.  Carrie was then united in marriage with Joe Johnson in 1957 at Emmetsburg, Iowa, and they made their home in Arizona.  She was a member of the United Methodist Church in Mesa, Arizona, was active in the Salvation Army and the American Legion and helped with the local Food Distribution Center.

Survivors include two sons: Richard and his wife, Cheryl Carney of Crystal Lake, Iowa, and Hugh and his wife, Peggy Carney of Sierra Vista, Arizona; one daughter, Catherine Derenthall of Tyler, Texas; and ten grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, three brothers, two sisters, two husbands and one daughter.
