Prayers for Kay and the family. I always enjoyed conversations with him at events.

My first thoughts of Roger are Cub Rog and trains, but then too the early a.m. golf. As a big part of our church family we lift the entire Brooks family up in prayer. Lord wrap your loving arms around Kay, Amy, and Brian and give them comfort knowing that they are not alone in their loss. Bob & Sue

Many great memories of Coach Brooks. From the lectures in civics class, to him telling me what play to run in to the huddle for football, and spending time with him and family at the house, watching the Cubs or playing with the trains . He was always there for my brothers and I. Our hearts go out to the Brooks family, and want them to know how much we cared for Roger and how much they are in our prayers and thoughts. DB

Roger has been a fellow Morningsider, history/government teacher, coach, life-long Cubs fan, model railroader and friend. He will be greatly missed. Go, Cubs,GO!

I'm very sorry to hear about Roger's passing. He was always very kind to me and I am very grateful to have known him and have him as a coach and friend. I hope your family can find comfort in all of the great memories you have of him.

Rog was one of a kind special friend to us! He and Kay welcomed us to their house for dinners so many times! He was the one who took care of the memorial tree for Joels's son for years .When Rog got sick will remind Joel when to winterize the tree and water the tree! Rog had the nickname for Joel "Easy Money " and they had so much fun joking around! Thank you Rog for making us feel special and treating us like a family! Will treasure the good memories!

My parents, Kurt and Shelby, are in assisted living at Windhaven in Cedar Falls. When I visited with them this morning, they wanted me to share these thoughts: We have known Roger and Kay for many years. Roger was a teacher at Clarion Middle School, where Kurt was a principal. We are grateful to call them friends through school activities, and also remember them from a variety of community events. We send our condolences to them during this difficult time.

Roger was a wonderful, giving person. He was our “green grocer” for many summers. When Lefty could no longer be left home alone, Rog came and sat with him on Sunday evenings, so that I didn’t have to quit singing in Choralaires. He was truly one of the good guys!

My favorite memories of Roger are the times we golfed together.( Stan) Though I’m no golfer, just a TX to > IA transplant, For me, any encounter with Roger, became a special memory for me. I just loved that sweet guy, and he’ll be sorely missed by anyone who knew him! (Martha)

He will always be “Mr. Brooks “ to me. I respect him so much because he was a wonderful teacher and a compassionate, enthusiastic role model. He made history come alive with his animated lectures and prepared us for college by requiring us to take notes and outline the main points. He lived his faith and loved his family. Sincere sympathy to all who love him. His dedication to educating us left an indelible mark on me. May his spirit live on.
